MEET CATHY CURLEY: Vero Beach's hot pink real estate phenom.

Introduction by Tricia: I adore Cathy Curley and I was so thrilled that she agreed to be part of our Suitcase Stories. I have deep deep respect for Cathy as a businesswoman, a community member, and as a fabulous human. I first met Cathy in the needlepoint shop in Vero Beach. I had no idea who she was but I loved her energy. I would quickly realize she was an up and coming real estate agent in my new home of Vero Beach. It was a beautiful thing to watch as Cathy rose through the ranks of agents in the community and quickly become a household name and a favorite in our island community. Cathy is our go to agent in Vero and we send all of our friends to her. She is fun, hilarious, smart as a whip and one of the most ethical people I know. I am proud to introduce my friend Cathy to our readers.

What is your favorite luggage?

I have multiple PINK Away suitcases.  A large hot pink one that could fit a couple of small children, and a small blush carry-on that honestly doesn't get much play.  Although I have traveled extensively, and even lived in Asia, I have yet to master the ability to pack lightly.  I really can't "carry-on" unless it's a 1-2 day warm weather trip - it's the shoes and hats that get me. My husband tells the story of my first ever trip to NYC when we were dating - he says I showed up with 3 bags for 3 days!

Do you have a travel uniform?

Although my Grandmother is likely rolling over in her grave, I'm A-OK with traveling in athleisure. I choose comfort on long flights or road trips. I'm actually boarding a red-eye to Scotland tonight, so I'm rocking my yummiest @lululemon leggings, a soft white tee and coordinating hoodie with @oncloud sneakers. For this flight, I'm also going make-up free so my skin can breathe.  I drink loads of water on flights and often stretch in the aisles - whatever it takes to help me feel my best upon arrival.  For a shorter daytime flight, I would likely wear one of my tried and true @brochuwalker long Havana dresses with @goldengoose sneakers + layer on a jean jacket.

Any essentials you are never without?

Needlepoint!  I'm obsessed with this hobby and wouldn't be caught without it on a trip.  As a busy real estate agent, I actually look forward to putting my phone on airplane mode and getting to needlepoint guilt-free on flights.

What is your favorite destination?

Any beautiful beach resort.  My favorite to date: A special week with my Mom @gasparillainn - LOVE this Old Florida gem!  ...and my 40th birthday with my besties @thecolonypalmbeach was everything.  I try to visit this pink paradise at least once/year.  I'm looking forward to my first trip to @thedunmore later this month to celebrate my 20th anniversary.

Most unforgettable trip?

Honestly the most unforgettable trip has to be when I visited Costa Rica last year with my entire family to celebrate my Mom's birthday.  There were just SO MANY crazy things that happened like the near-death "hike" to a waterfall the 17 of us barely survived.  I'm not sure I'll ever go back, but I have enough laughs and memories to suffice.

Where are you dreaming of going that you haven't visited yet?

Anywhere on a @belmond train.  I see me boarding in a classic outfit by @mae with hat box in-hand like a glamorous scene from an old movie. #bucketlist

Where are you off to next?

Tonight I'm headed back to Scotland, where our family spends time each Summer.  It's a magical place where time slows down for all of us.  I enjoy not having to be "on" or having to get all dolled up.  My husband and my boys go out golfing for HOURS, which is a beautiful thing.  I get lots of time to recharge.  I enjoy exercising and visiting @kohlerwatersspa_och @oldcoursehotel.

Do you collect anything on your travels?

I like getting Christmas ornaments from different destinations, and also picking up @thescoutguide for my collection.

Anything you would like to add?

I think the 2 most over-the-top places I've visited are @fsmaldives  and skiing @thevaleniseko while living in Asia. My husband rolls his eyes and always comments that anyone in the airport can tell where we're headed by the hats I rock in airports - I'll sport my @sarahbraybermuda if traveling tropical, @kemosabe1990 if enroute to Colorado or Utah.  So many hats, so little time!  Until then....hats off!
